Summary:

The AI-SMAB-PGNP project proposes the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system to support strategic decision-making in the management of the Peneda-Gerês National Park (PNPG) wasteland, facing the challenges posed by climate change, population abandonment and regulatory complexity. The solution integrates emerging technologies such as Big Data, Machine Learning and Digital Twins to collect, process and analyze environmental, socio-economic and tourism data. Open data sources will be used, complemented by sensors installed in the wastelands for real-time monitoring. The system will produce simulations and forecasts to help co-management bodies (public and private) define sustainable strategies, balancing forestry, tourism, farming and conservation uses. The approach focuses on the Great Route of the PNPG and will culminate in a functional proof of concept, serving as a basis for future applications in other protected areas and promoting integrated and efficient management of the territory.

Summary:

The SMART-CARE project proposes a proof of concept at the ULS of Vale do Lima and Vale do Minho with the aim of transforming hospital management, clinical research and patient care through a strategic and integrated approach to data acquisition, governance, analysis and visualization. The solution is based on three pillars: (i) data integration and governance using ETL tools to consolidate information from multiple sources, ensuring quality, consistency and interoperability; (ii) the application of advanced data analysis techniques, such as predictive modelling and machine learning, to support strategic decisions, optimize resources and anticipate risks; and (iii) the development of interactive interfaces based on Artificial Intelligence, with automated reports and the integration of natural language models to simplify the communication of indicators and reduce the administrative burden. The project aims to significantly improve operational efficiency, support R&TD management and promote more effective healthcare, serving as a replicable model for other hospital units and public administration institutions.

Summary:

The SMART-GOV.HCA project proposes the development of an innovative digital tool to assess and improve the efficiency, productivity and well-being of Public Administration (PA) workers, based on Lean Office principles, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science. Through the automatic and non-evasive collection of data on the activities and behavior of employees in citizen service offices, it will be possible to monitor occupational and mental health, identify operational waste and redesign human-centered workflows. The solution is based on CiTin and ADiT-Lab’s experience in analyzing workstations in an industrial context, now applied to the office environment. Metrics will be developed to evaluate performance and propose organizational improvements tailored to the individual needs of workers, promoting a responsive, healthy and efficient environment. This project responds to the need for digital transformation in the Public Administration, in line with OECD recommendations and promoting a culture of innovation, technological proximity and higher quality public services.

Summary:

The AI4APGovernance project aims to develop an interactive, citizen-centric digital system that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Natural Language Processing and Data Science to optimize administrative processes and support strategic governance in Public Administration (PA). In collaboration with the Viana do Castelo City Council, two computer systems will be created: (1) an AI platform with chatbot to automate procedures and improve customer service for citizens and companies, and (2) an AI plug-in for email, which categorizes, summarizes and suggests automatic responses to incoming emails. At the same time, an analytical dashboard will be implemented to support strategic decisions based on data. The project adopts ethical and legal practices in the use of generative AI, respecting European and national regulations, and applies AGILE and Design Science Research methodologies. The solution could be replicated in other public administration entities, promoting a more efficient, intelligent administration that is closer to its citizens.

The Common European Agricultural Data Space (CEADS) focuses on the agri-food sector, integrating data, infrastructures and governance and business models to facilitate secure data sharing. The project aims to implement and operationalize this data space, ensuring secure and reliable data sharing for the agri-food sector, including public administrations. This will increase economic, environmental and social value, while maintaining high standards of privacy, security and ethics. The implementation of CEADS will adopt an agile multi-stakeholder development approach, grounded in the science and practice of innovation ecosystems. This approach involves implementing CEADS through 3 consecutive minimum viable product (MVP) cycles, including co-design and adaptation, implementation and integration, testing and operation, and evaluation phases. The project will conclude with a comprehensive roadmap and sustainability plan for the expansion and consolidation of CEADS.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Digital Europe  Programme (DEP) under grant agreement No 101195295, project CEADS.
